Stody Lodge Gardens opens this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 1pm - 5pm

To celebrate its collaboration with the Animal Art Fair this May, Stody Lodge Gardens is for the first time opening to the public mid-week. Visitors can come and enjoy 14 acres of rhododendrons, azaleas and specimen trees in and amongst the Animal Art Fair Spring Exhibition and Sculpture Gardens.

Doors will open from 1pm - 5pm on Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd May.

Entrance £5 (cash or cheque), children under 12 free. Delicious homemade teas provided by About with Friends. Ample free parking, plant stalls and dogs on leads welcome.

Dogs on leads are welcome, there is a free car park, plant stall (cash only) and delicious takeaway teas. Toilets, including a disabled toilet, are available. There is good disabled access to most areas of the gardens.

💥extra open day tomorrow💥 We have arranged a last minute opening tomorrow to give everyone a chance to see the flowers in full bloom 🌼. At last we have coordinated one of our open days with lovely weather as the sun is going to shine ☀️ (unlike the freezing winds and showers to date!) It is such a stunning evening so i just took the dogs for a quick walk and grabbed some snaps of lesser known corners of the garden 😊. Thank you to all those wonderful visitors yesterday who braved the wind and rain to enjoy the gardens. Typically it’s glorious sunshine today 🙄. We have decided to make the most of the better weather this week and have a special opening this Thursday 2nd May from 2pm - 5pm (note slightly later opening time.) The gardens are just spectacular at the moment and we wanted to give everyone a chance to see them as they’re flowering early this year. Our #azaleas are out! So we picked some blooms for the house and invited some friends round for an impromtu lunch. Tried and tested @melissa.hemsley recipe - slow cooked lamb with anchovies and a delicious kale, mint and parsley salad, foraged from the polytunnel. A lovely pre-lunch drink in the Azalea Water Gardens and a good walk to earn our lunch. Only 3 weeks until our brilliant Stody Family Fun Day on Sunday 5 May 🤩. New for this year is a free ‘animal flow’ kids yoga session with Hannah @the_strong_yogini and a fabulous art activity with local artist @mary_blue_creates which is only £3 per child. We’ve got our excellent Fun Dog Show, lots of farmyard animals, cute and cuddly animals, a treasure hunt, face painting, fete games on the lawn, @dannsicecream and delicious teas by the @holt_youth_project. Our young Prunus ‘Tai Haku’ or Great White Cherry has weathered the recent blustery winds well. It’s beautiful pure white single flowers are clinging on! It’s going to look stunning against the yew hedge when it reaches full maturity in 10-20 years time. You can see the inspiration for choosing this particular cherry for this yew-enclosed spot in the final image - thanks goes to @aralennoxboyd whose book ‘Designing Gardens’ has been instrumental in many of the plant choices that went into the recently designed Dawn Garden at Stody #opengarden #whitegarden #yewhedges #norfolkgarden

A sweet bumble bee enjoying one of our several Enkianthus campanulatus - such an unassuming but truly stunning shrub that comes into its own each spring with its creamy bell shaped flowers. Part of the Ericaceae or heather family, it is very at home in our acid, ericaceous soil. #rhododendrongarden #acidlovingplants #norfolkgarden #opengarden
